Job description

At the Department of Philosophy’s Chair of Theoretical Philosophy, at the University of Greifswald’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities, there is a position which is expected to be available from 1 April 2024, subject to budgetary regulations, for a full-time

Postdoctoral Fellow.

The fixed-term contract is for a period of three years. Payment will be made according to pay group 13 TV-L Wissenschaft if the personal and pay group qualifications are met. The position on offer is suitable for part-time employment.

Job Description:

  • Academic research and teaching services in the field of theoretical philosophy
  • Independent academic research in the field of metaphysics, epistemology, and/or the philosophy of science applying formal research methods
  • Participation in the chair’s research colloquium
  • The position serves to qualify in the second qualification phase; it is assigned tasks that are conducive to the preparation of a Habilitation or comparable qualification

Job Specification:

  • Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) and doctorate in philosophy, preferably theoretical philosophy
  • Publications in leading international journals
  • Expertise in the use of formal research methods
  • Research plan for the next three years
  • Excellent knowledge of both written and spoken English
  • Experience in university teaching

Desirable:

  • The ability to teach in German is a plus
