Assistant Teaching Professor of Philosophy, Job # 131067 The School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies (SHPRS) at Arizona State University invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible Assistant Teaching Professor position beginning August 16, 2024. This is a fixed-term, academic year (nine month) appointment with no tenure implications. Subsequent annual renewal is possible contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the university. This full-time, benefits-eligible career-track position includes a path to promotion to Associate Teaching Professor and Full Teaching Professor. Areas of Specialization/Competence: Some area of Applied Ethics, such as bioethics or business ethics. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and teaching undergraduate courses in applied ethics (a 4/4 load), including bioethics and business ethics. The preferred candidate will also be able help us relieve enrollment pressure in other areas, such as environmental ethics, philosophy of science, and introductory logic. These courses will be taught online and in-person with the majority of the load online. In addition to teaching, responsibilities will include supervising teaching assistants and graders. This person will also serve the school, college and university in capacities appropriate for the position. Candidates who are non-US citizens must have current authorization to work in the United States.
