Assistant Professor (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO anticipates hiring a tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning July 1, 2024. AOS: Open. AOC: Ethics and Comparative Religion. The expected teaching load for this position is four courses per semester (4/4), typically with two course preparations. The successful candidate will regularly teach our core ethics course, which focuses on historical moral theory and just war theory, along with other courses that serve our philosophy major and minor and our religion studies minor, including especially a survey course in comparative religion. Preference will be given to candidates who also can contribute to our teaching of courses in technology ethics and the history of philosophy.

Other expectations of the job include mentoring officer candidates; performing service for the department, institution, and discipline; and publishing original research. An earned doctorate (completed no later than July 1, 2024) in philosophy or a closely related discipline is required.
