Job description

The Humanities Program of Dominican University New York (DUNY), invites applications for a tenure-track position in Philosophy beginning Fall 2024.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • A completed PhD in Philosophy is strongly preferred, but the exceptional ABD candidate may also be considered.
  • A generalist broadly trained. Teaching responsibilities (generally a 4/4 load) will include regular offerings of Introductory Logic and Bioethics for non-majors. Preference will be given to candidates with experience and interest in these areas.  The program also has needs in the Philosophy of Race or Gender and the History of Philosophy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion, and student success, while working with a broadly diverse student body.
  • Familiarity with the Dominican Tradition is desirable.
  • Equal capability and enthusiasm in teaching a range of undergraduate Philosophy courses in our new general education program.
  • Strong candidates will be versatile, committed teachers who, consistent with the mission of the University, are committed to excellence, leadership, and service in an environment characterized by respect for the individual and concern for the community and its needs.

Compensation commensurate with experience. Salary range: $65,000 - $68,000
