Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy—Search #12196 College of Arts and Humanities The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies in the College of Arts and Humanities invites applications and nominations for the position of non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor. The home campus for this position will be Statesboro. Founded in 1906, Georgia Southern University is a Carnegie Doctoral/R2 institution with a focus on public-impact research, serving over 25,500 students on three beautiful campuses in Statesboro, Savannah, and Hinesville, and via a growing online program. Within this setting, the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies’ mission is to provide a rigorous, engaged, and diverse education in Philosophy and Religious Studies. Our courses include exploration of the history of ideas, values, training in critical reasoning, investigation of diverse cultures, and exposure to contemporary issues in Philosophy and Religious Studies. We offer a B.A. in Philosophy, B.A. Philosophy with a concentration in Law and B.A. in Philosophy with a concentration in Religious Studies. Position Description. Reporting to Department Chair Karin Fry, the Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy requires teaching 5 classes per semester. The position is ten-month appointment, and the salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
