The University of Nebraska at Omaha seeks TWO (2) full-time Visiting Assistant Professors for one-year appointments to begin August 19, 2024. These positions may be renewable. Four courses per semester (eight courses per academic year) with opportunity for upper-level teaching. AOS: Open (though we have needs in Philosophy of Mind). AOC: Open but must be able to teach Introduction to Philosophy: Meaning of Life and Introduction to Ethics. Excellence in teaching is essential. Our lower-level courses cap at 25-30 students and our upper-level courses cap around 20 students. We control our course caps because we take class discussion and the teaching of writing very seriously (and we have been creative about teaching writing in the era of AI). We have around 40 majors and a very active philosophy club. The university and department have a strong commitment to achieving diversity among faculty and staff. The University of Nebraska does not discriminate based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, and/or political affiliation in its programs, activities, or employment. |
