Reporting to the Director of the Parr Center for Ethics and working in collaboration with the Center’s staff, the Administrator of the National High School Ethics Bowl (NHSEB) will take the lead on strategic planning, development, and operations in service of the NHSEB program’s mission: to promote respectful, supportive, and in-depth discussion of ethics among high school students nationwide. The NHSEB Administrator is responsible for all aspects of the NHSEBprogram, including development of the program’s principal pedagogical materials and strategies, overseeing the growth and development of the program (both operationally and financially), providing support to a large and continually growing network of Regional Competitions and partners across the country, directly overseeing the North Carolina and National High School Ethics Bowl events at UNC-CH, and generally working to ensure the long-term stability, sustainability, and impact of the program for its diverse local and national constituency.
The Parr Center sees ethical reflection as a pervasive element of human life that is relevant to all fields of endeavor and at all stages of the lifespan. In keeping with its dual mission to nourish and foster ethical reflection on campus and beyond, the Parr Center offers both i) a rich menu of programming aimed mainly at campus (University) constituencies, and ii) a range of activities designed to encourage and enhance ethical reflection by participants outside the University.
