Job description
|
Job Duties:
- Conduct independent research in any area of philosophy and science
- Develop, manage and execute independent and collaborative research projects
- Publish high-quality research at an internationally outstanding level
- Generate research income
- Demonstrate impact through research (e.g. informing practitioners/policy makers, promote research through public engagement or the media, develop impact case studies)
- Assume academic leadership responsibilities (e.g. in research, teaching and internationalisation)
- Develop, manage and teach university-level classes in philosophy in German and English
- Co-supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis
- Provide outstanding, quality education to enhance the student experience
- Participate in the institute’s administrative tasks
Your Qualifications:
- The successful candidate must hold a Doctorate/Ph.D. degree in Philosophy of Science
- Possess a strong interest in rigorously pursuing philosophical research into the interrelations between science (including, but not limited to, the social sciences) and society
- Experience in academic research in philosophy of science
- Track record of publications in the institute’s core research areas: e.g. general philosophy of science, philosophy of social science, philosophy of economics, philosophy of medicine, foundations of statistics, history of economic thought, objective, causality, evidence
- Command of German sufficient for teaching in German language study programs (Level C1) -- THIS IS A NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENT
- Excellent command of English (level B2+)
- Teaching experience in the Higher Education sector with a focus on philosophy, especially philosophy of science
- Desirable: Track record in generating research income
- Desirable: experience in developing, managing and executing research projects
- Expertise and professional experience in managing international staff and external (project)partners

- On the basis of full-time employment (40 hours/week) the minimum salary in accordance with the collective agreement is € 4,752.30 gross per month (14 x per year, CA Job Grade: B1)
