Job description |
Postdoc in economic theory and philosophy Description We are recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to conduct research on the theory of the firm. This postdoc will join a larger interdisciplinary project that focuses on collective agents—specifically, economic firms and biological organisms—and how they maintain coherence despite the threat from internal conflicts. This project is funded by the John Templeton Foundation. For more on our project, visit:// https://www.pattenlab.com/collective-agents.html. The position is initially for one year, with an opportunity to renew for a second. The postdoc will be affiliated either with the Department of Philosophy at the University of Kansas or with the Department of Biology at Georgetown University. We welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time, remote (within the United States), or other flexible working arrangements. Position available starting September 1, 2024 (flexible) Starting salary: $61,000 (US dollars) Qualifications Candidates should have obtained a PhD in Economics or Philosophy (or related field). Narrowly, we are looking for the postdoc to have expertise in economic modeling. But more broadly, we seek a postdoc with interests in foundational questions in economic and evolutionary theory and a commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship. Application process To apply, please email your CV, the contact info for two references, and a brief (~1 page) statement of your interests to Armin Schulz ([email protected]) and Manus Patten ([email protected]). Please email Armin and Manus with informal inquiries. We will review applications on a rolling basis until the position is filled. For full consideration, please apply by September 1, 2024. Georgetown University is a vibrant, multidisciplinary academic community in the heart of the U.S. capital. Georgetown University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer fully dedicated to achieving a diverse faculty and staff. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply and will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity and expression, and sexual orientation), disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. |
