Job description

The Department of Philosophy at Oakland University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning August 15, 2025. Area of specialization: Social/Political/Legal Philosophy. Areas of competence: Open. We are especially interested in candidates willing to teach sections of "Political Philosophy”, “Global Justice”, “Philosophy of International Relations: Law, War, and Peace”, and “Philosophy of Law” as well as introductory classes. Interest in supporting the Oakland University Ethics Bowl Team as part of an assigned course and/or teaching interests in history of philosophy welcome. Candidates must demonstrate experience with, and a commitment to, diversity and inclusion.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Philosophy by August 15, 2025 is required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
