The Department of Philosophy at Oakland University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position, beginning August 15, 2025. Area of specialization: Socially Relevant Philosophy of Science. Area of competence: AI Ethics. We are especially interested in candidates willing to regularly teach sections of “Introduction to Ethics in Science and Engineering”. Teaching interests in history of philosophy welcome. Candidates must demonstrate experience with, and a commitment to, diversity and inclusion. PhD in Philosophy by August 15, 2025 is required for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidates will provide a Diversity Statement that describes their interest or efforts in furthering diversity and inclusion, e.g., through mentoring, pedagogy, activism, faculty recruitment/retention, or research on issues related to diversity and social inequality.
