Assistant Professor of Philosophy

The Department of Religion and Philosophy invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor starting August 2025. Candidates must have earned a doctorate in Philosophy, as well as exhibit a commitment to teaching, research and service. ABDs are welcome to apply for the position.

The AOS and AOC for this job are open, but the department is looking for a philosophical  generalist who can teach on a wide scope of philosophical topics and areas. The capacity and willingness to teach African- American philosophy is a plus.  Duties for the job include:

1. Teaching  undergraduate courses in Philosophy.  The current load is 4 courses per semester. Faculty in the department should be able to teach core courses in Critical Thinking as well as Intro to Philosophy and Ethics, as well as a variety of major courses.
2. Advise and mentor undergraduate majors and minors in Philosophy and Religion.
3. Conduct research and publication in refereed academic and professional journals in
Philosophy.
4. Provide service to department, school, and university, including serving on committees.
