Job description

The Philosophy Department at Hamilton College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2025. We seek scholars of Applied Ethics (including environmental ethics) or Epistemology (broadly construed to include applied epistemology, moral, social, or feminist epistemology). Candidates should have teaching competency in Critical Reasoning. We welcome applications from candidates who could teach Aesthetics or Philosophy of Law. We seek candidates who can demonstrate their experience in teaching or working with broadly diverse student populations. Cover letters should address the ways in which candidates would further the College's goals of enhancing the educational experiences of students while building a diverse and inclusive educational environment. The position requires institutional service including academic advising of undergraduate students after the first year.

The Philosophy Department at Hamilton College is collegial and philosophically diverse, with a strong commitment to innovative undergraduate instruction, robust research, and accessible scholarship. Candidates with ABD will be considered, although candidates with a Ph.D. are preferred. The teaching load for this position is four courses during the first year and five courses thereafter. The expected 9-month base salary range for this position is $89,800 to $96,000. Candidates should submit cover letter, CV, evidence of teaching excellence, a writing sample, and a list of references via interfolio at http://apply.interfolio.com/153910 Questions regarding the search may be directed to Russell Marcus, Search Committee Chair, at [email protected]. Our review of applications will begin on November 15, 2024.
