Postdoc

The Center for Advanced Studies SOCRATES “Social Credibility and Trustworthiness of Expert Knowledge and Science-Based Information”, funded by the German Research Council, invites applications for senior fellowships and postdoctoral fellowships (2-12 months) at Leibniz University Hannover, Germany.

SOCRATES provides a forum for interdisciplinary as well as inner-disciplinary exchange on scientific credibility and trust in science. Scientific fields within which these themes will be explored include climate science and the climate crisis, scientific expertise in the health sciences, and credibility within and of the behavioral sciences.

We offer senior fellowships and post-doctoral fellowships to scholars from across the globe and disciplines. Successful candidates will conduct their own research and participate in the Centre's activities. Compensation will be in the form of a monthly stipend or teaching buyouts.

We invite applications from researchers with the following profile:

• PhD in philosophy, sociology, communication & media studies, or a related discipline;
• Demonstrable research output in the topics explored at SOCRATES, as evident e.g. from publications and paper presentations;
• Willingness to contribute to the Centre’s interdisciplinary activities and research agenda and the exchange with other SOCRATES fellows; and
• Willingness to relocate to Hannover for the duration of the fellowship.
