Job description

The Department of Philosophy and Religion is seeking to hire an assistant professor of philosophy, tenure track, who specializes in one or more of 19th/20th Century Continental Philosophy and/or Social & Political Philosophy, with an August 15, 2025 start date. The successful candidate will have a philosophical research program and promise that corresponds with Clemson University’s Carnegie R1 designation as well as potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. The typical course load is 2/2.

The department seeks candidates with broad philosophical training as well as skill and interest in teaching across, and contributing to expanding, the offerings of our thriving undergraduate program. In addition to the AOS areas above, the department has teaching interests in: Aesthetics, Epistemology, other areas in History of Philosophy, Logic and Philosophy of Language, Metaphysics, and the Philosophy of Science and/or Technology. Candidates with the ability to teach within non-Western and Feminist traditions would be particularly welcomed. 

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Philosophy in hand by August 15, 2025.
