We are inviting applications from highly research-active candidates for the position of full-time Assistant Professor/Associate Professor and Full Professor in Philosophy. FLAME University, Pune (Maharashtra, India), is the pioneer of liberal education in India. With a strong focus on interdisciplinary research and teaching, the School of Liberal Education has recognized strengths in the areas of Psychology, Sociology, Public Policy, Economics, Philosophy, Literary and Cultural Studies, in addition to Environmental Sciences, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics and Humanities. The school offers undergraduate programs that allow students to gain rigorous interdisciplinary training and opportunities to complement their research activities, build networks/professional references, and advance their career aspirations. Overall, the School stands for intellectual freedom, curiosity, and academic integrity. The successful candidate will teach foundational undergraduate courses in Critical Reasoning and Applied Ethics in addition to elective philosophy courses which may include Introduction to Philosophy, Introduction to Western Philosophy, Ethics and the Good Life, Metaphysics, Epistemology, Existentialism, Political Philosophy, etc. The successful candidate will be a clear, engaging teacher of undergraduate students for whom they may be their first exposure to philosophy in an academic context. Courses may be either a term or a semester in length. In addition to fulfilling the teaching requirements, the candidate must actively pursue research in Philosophy and regularly publish their work. FLAME University offers a Ph.D. in Humanities, so qualifying faculty members can also serve as advisors in their area of expertise. Faculty responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching, advising students, participating in faculty colloquia, and academic administration. A Ph.D. (completed or nearing submission) is required at the time of application. Our expectation is that a successful applicant will: 1.
