Position Description

Professor of Practice in Medical Ethics teaching 3 courses/semester.

This Professor of Practice would teach medical ethics courses at different levels, from introductory for first year undergraduates up to advanced seminars, including sections with service-learning. Courses in this area are in high demand, particularly sections with a service-learning component. The department aims to maintain existing, as well as establish new, community partnerships in this area.

Our department has special strengths in moral and political philosophy (including the history thereof) and philosophy of mind; the ability to enhance those strengths is preferred. Similarly, the department aims to increase interdisciplinary collaboration, so relevant experience is preferred.

Professors of practice are non-tenure track but continuing positions with full benefits, and with opportunities for long-term employment and increases in compensation.  Professors of practice focus primarily on teaching and continued employment depends largely on quality of teaching.
