The Department of Philosophy at Smith College invites applications for a 1-year, benefits-eligible position at the rank of Lecturer, to begin July 1, 2025. The teaching load is five courses per year. The department has curricular needs especially in epistemology and metaethics. In addition, it seeks candidates whose engagement with these areas addresses the roles of race and/or class and/or gender. A PhD in Philosophy is expected by the time of appointment, but the department will accept applications from advanced doctoral students who are ABD. Candidates from groups underrepresented in philosophy are encouraged to apply. Located in Northampton, MA, Smith College is the largest women’s college in the country and is dedicated to excellence in teaching and research across the liberal arts. A faculty of outstanding scholars interact with students in small classes, as advisors, and through student-faculty research projects.
