Oxford College of Emory University invites applications for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Philosophy to begin August 1, 2025. The appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal for up to two additional years pending performance evaluation, curricular need, and budgetary approval. Teaching responsibilities include 3 courses per semester, including Introduction to Logic, Renaissance and Modern Philosophy, and History of Social and Political Philosophy. The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to offer an upper-level course in their area of specialization. Qualifications Required Qualifications: Advanced ABD or PhD in Philosophy by August 1, 2025, with demonstrated teaching competence in the history of philosophy, political philosophy, and introductory symbolic logic. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level and the ability to communicate effectively with first- and second-year college students, particularly non-majors. If the successful candidate is ABD, appointment will be at the rank of Visiting Instructor. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience as the instructor of record for in-person undergraduate courses One of Emory University's four schools partnering in undergraduate education, Oxford College provides 975 first- and second-year students of high academic profile an intensive liberal-arts program for the first two years of their Emory bachelor’s degree.
