Assistant Professor of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy at University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX seeks full-time, tenure-track, faculty candidates for Assistant Professor of Philosophy within the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences for assignment beginning August 2025. Full-time faculty at UIW are expected to teach four courses in the fall semester and four courses in the spring semester. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service and professional activities.

We are seeking candidates with research and teaching competence in any of the following areas: aesthetics, feminist philosophy, 19th century philosophy. Familiarity with the Catholic Intellectual Tradition, broadly defined, is desired.

REQUIREMENTS

• Ph.D. in Philosophy. Note that ABD candidates will be considered with expected completion by date of assignment.

• One (1) year of teaching experience in a higher education environment in the field and demonstrated instructional competency via student and peer evaluation processes.
