Applications are invited for the post of a PhD position (m/f/d, 65% employment, Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L) in Ancient Philosophy The Emergence and Nature of Practical Rationality in Aristotle Department of Philosophy, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen Duration 36 months Job description The Department of Philosophy of the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen, Germany, is looking for a doctoral assistant at 65 % for three years to join an international research group working on Aristotle’s conception of practical rationality under the supervision of Prof. Klaus Corcilius (Tübingen) and Prof. Andrea Falcon (Milan). We are looking for doctoral students with a strong research interest in Aristotle’s practical philosophy and/or Aristotle’s theory of science and scientific explanation and/or its antecedents especially in Plato, and preferably with a background in contemporary practical philosophy. The successful candidate is expected to hold an MA – degree in philosophy or equivalent, to continue their own research, to actively participate in the activities of the research group, and to help organize academic events for the project. The candidate will find a comparatively large and vibrant ancient philosophy community in Tübingen. The position is open to applicants from outside Germany and the European Union. We accept applicants with external funding.
