Job description

The Philosophy Department at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. invites applications for two one-year, full-time, non-tenure-track faculty positions for the 2025-26 academic year.  Positions may be renewable contingent on department and core curriculum needs.  AOS/AOC: open. Gonzaga's core curriculum includes Reasoning (PHIL 101), Philosophy of Human Nature (PHIL 201), and Ethics (PHIL 301). Applicants should be prepared to teach some combination of 101 and either 201 or 301. Teaching load: 24 credits/year.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Philosophy by July 16, 2025.
  • At least one year of teaching experience.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness.
  • Evidence of active scholarly engagement.
  • Willingness and ability to adopt inclusive course design and teaching strategies.

Job Duties:

  • Teach four courses per semester, with primary responsibility in PHIL 101/Reasoning.
  • Applicants should also be prepared to teach PHIL 201/Human Nature and PHIL 301/Ethics.
