Job description

The Departments of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Philosophy invite applications for a renewable non-tenure-track term assistant professor position, appointment beginning August 1, 2025.

AOC: Feminist Philosophy of Disability

Initial contract is for one year, but multi-year contracts are possible upon renewal. Teaching responsibilities include both undergraduate and graduate courses in both departments; normally eight classes per academic year, but no more than 2 preparations per semester, and class sizes typically between 30 and 45. Starting salary $50,000. Summer and winter teaching may typically be undertaken for additional pay. Candidates should be willing, with department support, to meet the Philosophy Department’s commitment to integrate the contributions of nonwhite and non-male philosophers, and non-Eurocentric philosophical traditions, into every course.

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in Philosophy and possess expertise in feminist methods and critical approaches to systems of power and inequality. All requirements for the PhD should have been completed by September 15, 2025. Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States by August 1, 2025.
