Director of PULSE Program for Service Learning (EXPIRED)

Boston College seeks qualified candidates for the position of Director of PULSE Program for Service Learning.

The Director of PULSE is responsible for general oversight of all aspects of the program, with special attention to maintaining the academic integrity and quality of the program, and the quality of the more than 50 social service field placements for the students enrolled in the Program. The Director collaborates with faculty in the development of academic courses consistent with the educational goals of the program. Working with the Assistant Director, the Director oversees the development and maintenance of field placements, maintains effective partnership and communication with field placement supervisors, and evaluates student placement performances and experiences. The Director also works with the Assistant Director in developing and supervising the program’s student leadership group.

Since the position also includes offering courses in the program, the Director must have a doctorate, preferably in Philosophy or Theology, but at a minimum must have graduate level training in these disciplines. Familiarity with the Catholic Social Justice tradition will be considered an asset. The position is a full time non-tenured faculty appointment, rank dependent on the standards employed by the university and the profession.
