Instructor/Assistant Professor, full-time, academic year 2014-15, Department of Philosophy at University of Minnesota Duluth. Essential qualifications: Masters degree with ABD status in Philosophy, one year of college-level teaching in Philosophy (as T.A. acceptable), evidence of teaching ability, broad philosophical interests. Preferred qualifications: PhD in Philosophy. Scholarly publications. Teaching experience in 3 or more of the curriculum areas listed in duties and responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to teach a range of Philosophy courses as needed. Evidence of the ability to work effectively with diverse groups. The level of appointment (Instructor or Assistant Professor) and salary depend on highest degree (Masters or PhD) attained at time appointment begins. Areas of curriculum to be covered will include some of: Intro, Ethics, Philosophy of Religion, Mythology, Logic, Values & Technology, Philosophy of Psychology, Critical Thinking, Epistemology, Ancient Philosophy, Early Modern Philosophy, and Special Topics: Area of Choice. Job responsibilities include teaching and normal involvement in departmental activities. The department expects to hire two full-time nine-month faculty for 2014-15. Additional summer 2015 appointment may be possible, contingent on funding. The Department has 7 faculty: see http://www.d.umn.edu/phil/. Department members are engaged in scholarship and teaching.
