Job description

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto, St. George campus, invites applications for a part-time 50% FTE teaching-stream position  at the rank of Lecturer for one year, beginning July 1 2014.

Area of Specialization: Political Philosophy

Area of Competence: open

The successful candidate will be expected to teach four undergraduate half-courses, two in each of the Fall and Winter terms of the 2014-15 academic year: an intermediate-level course in political philosophy (PHL365 Political Philosophy or PHL366 Topics in Political Philosophy); two other intermediate-level courses (any two of PHL323 Social and Cultural Theory, PHL367 Philosophy of Feminism, and PHL378 War and Morality); and a senior undergraduate seminar in political philosophy (PHL412).

The successful candidate will have earned a PhD in Philosophy by July 1, 2014, and should have broad and successful experience as an instructor in political philosophy. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
