Job description

The Department of Philosophy at the University of Toronto, St. George campus, invites applications for a part-time 50% FTE teaching-stream position at the rank of Lecturer for one year, beginning July 1 2014. 

Areas of Specialization and/or Competence: Philosophy of Mind, Metaphysics and Philosophy of Language.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach four undergraduate half-courses, two in each of the Fall and Winter terms of the 2014-15 academic year: an introductory course in philosophy of mind (PHL240 Persons Minds and Bodies); two intermediate-level courses, including introductory Philosophy of Language (PHL351) and either of PHL326 Wittgenstein or PHL331 Metaphysics; and a senior undergraduate seminar on an advanced topic in the candidate's AOS.

The successful candidate will have earned a PhD in Philosophy by July 1, 2014, and should have broad and successful experience as an instructor in relevant areas of philosophy. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
