Job description |
FACULTY POSITIONS New York University Abu Dhabi, a part of New York University’s global network, invites applications for a position in bioethics at the rank of assistant or associate professor (tenure track). Applicants must have a Ph.D. or J.D. Successful applicants are expected to be outstanding teachers who demonstrate a strong scholarly career track in a sub-field of bioethics such as neuroethics, reproductive technologies and ethics, public health ethics, research ethics, research integrity and mental health ethics. Interdisciplinary interests are encouraged, and some background in science, public health, or health policy is desirable. New York University has established itself as a Global Network University, a multi- site, organically connected network encompassing key global cities and idea capitals. The network has three degree-granting campuses - New York, Shanghai, and Abu Dhabi - complemented by twelve additional academic centers across five continents. Faculty and students circulate within the network in pursuit of common research interests and cross-cultural, interdisciplinary endeavors, both local and global. Now in its fourth year, NYU Abu Dhabi has recruited a cohort of faculty who are at once distinguished in their research and teaching. Students are drawn from around the world and surpass all traditional recruitment benchmarks, both in the U.S. and globally. NYU Abu Dhabi’s highly selective liberal arts enterprise is complemented by an institute for advanced research, sponsoring cutting-edge projects across the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, and Engineering. The terms of employment are highly competitive and include housing benefits and educational subsidies for children. The faculty member will also spend time at NYU New York and possibly other sites of the global network, engaging in both research and teaching opportunities. The faculty member will be affiliated with the Division of Medical Ethics in the Department of Population Health at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City. Applications are due by May 15, 2014; however, applications received later will be reviewed until the position is filled. The starting date for employment is negotiable. Candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statements of teaching and research interests (not to exceed three pages each), and three representative publications. To complete the online process, applicants will be prompted to enter the names and email addresses of at least three referees. The referees will be contacted to upload their reference letters.
