Job Purpose:

The University of Scranton's Department of Philosophy invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning in August 2026. AOS: Ancient Philosophy, or Philosophy of Technology, or Ethics. AOC: Open. The department will consider a candidate's ability to teach any of the following a plus: Philosophy of Education, Computers and Ethics, Feminism, Logic, Epistemology. The Department of Philosophy at The University of Scranton seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track position to begin August 2026. The teaching load for this position will be 3-3 (18 credits/year) for research active faculty. The University of Scranton is a Catholic, Jesuit university with a philosophy department rooted in the history of philosophy and the philosophical foundations of the Catholic intellectual tradition.

Essential Duties:

Must demonstrate a strong commitment to and competency in teaching both core curriculum philosophy courses: Phil 120: Introduction to Philosophy, and Phil 210: Ethics, which are both required courses for all undergraduate students at the university. The successful candidate will be grounded in the history of philosophy in their approach to both teaching and scholarship. 

Minimum Education Requirements:

Ph.D. in philosophy required by start date.
