Assistant Professor of Philosophy (EXPIRED)

Applications are invited for the above post based in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Nottingham.

The Department of Philosophy is looking to expand its current research and teaching strengths and is seeking to appoint a candidate with demonstrable research and teaching excellence in at least one of the following three areas: Political Philosophy; Social Philosophy (including topics in applied ethics, feminist philosophy, the philosophy of race, etc.), and the History of Philosophy. All of these areas are to be construed broadly. Applicants uncertain as to whether their research falls into one of these categories are very welcome to make informal enquiries with the Head of Department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering excellent teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students, and making an excellent contribution to the Department’s research profile and culture. They will be expected to pursue opportunities for impact and public engagement with philosophy, and to contribute to the administration of the Department.

Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent (or close to completion) in Philosophy or an allied discipline.
