WMU seeks applications for a one-year term assistant professor appointment in the Department of Philosophy with a start date of Fall 2014. AOS: Philosophy of Science, History of Philosophy, or Philosophy of Religion. AOC: Open. The successful candidate will teach a graduate seminar in his or her area of expertise; undergraduate courses might include Inductive and Scientific Reasoning, Philosophy of Science, Ancient Philosophy, History of Modern Philosophy, Modern Worldview, Critical Thinking. This position is funded by a grant from the John Templeton Foundation on the subject of Special Divine Action. The grant provides sufficient funding for the possibility of renewal for a second year. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the research work of the grant, including but not limited to the creation of a digital humanities project on the history of the subject from the 17th through the early 20th century. WMU’s Department of Philosophy (www.wmich.edu/philosophy) is broadly analytic in focus, with an undergraduate major and a highly regarded M.A. program. The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has placed WMU among the 76 public institutions in the nation designated as research universities with high research activity.
