Job description

The School of Historical, Philosophical, and Religious Studies (SHPRS) at Arizona State University (ASU) invites applications for a post-doctoral fellowship in Political Thought to begin in Fall 2014. “Political Thought" is defined broadly, with both period and specialization (e.g., constitutional history, economic freedom and political liberty) open.  This appointment is made on an annual basis. Subsequent annual renewal is possible contingent upon performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the project.

The successful candidate will be affiliated with the Center for Political Thought and Leadership, but will have the opportunity to teach graduate courses as well. The position carries an annual 1-1 teaching load. The successful candidate will be invited to develop faculty workshops in selected topics.

Required qualification: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in History, Philosophy, Political Science, or a field relevant to Political Thought by the time of appointment.

Desired qualifications: Demonstrated ability to teach introductory, upper-division, and graduate courses relevant to Political Thought at a level of excellence in a variety of settings including in classrooms, online, and in a hybrid environment; evidence of excellence in research; and a broad understanding of political thought within a European, American, and global context.
