The Department of Philosophy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks candidates for a Visiting Faculty position to begin in the Fall of 2026. The successful candidate will teach six (6) courses per year (3 per semester), including both undergraduate and graduate levels. Other duties include research and some service on department and college committees. Areas of Specialization (AOS) include Ancient Philosophy or Early Modern Philosophy. The Areas of Competence (AOC) include Ancient Philosophy and Early Modern Philosophy. A Ph.D. in Philosophy or a closely related area is required by August 2026. Teaching expertise and teaching competence in ancient philosophy or early modern philosophy are also required. Preference will be given to candidates with research expertise in ancient philosophy and early modern philosophy; a strong potential for publication; and teaching competence in applied ethics (medical, environmental, food) and philosophy of law. Salary is $60,000 per year. Summer work may be available.
