Job description

Two (2) Postdoctoral Associate (Teaching Fellow) positions are available in the Department of Philosophy at the University at Buffalo. These positions will be supported by the Department of Education Grant P116J250119 “From Campus to Community: Civil Discourse as a Catalyst for Local Civic Renewal” and are renewable for up to three years. Successful applicants will be expected to contribute to the success of our funded project. Applicants may submit applications for more than one of the Postdoctoral Associate positions funded by this grant (Research; Community Engagement). A separate application is required for each position and will be reviewed independently.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Teaching: Teach three courses a year on topics related to the grant (social and political philosophy, social epistemology, philosophy of science) as well as participate in other pedagogical activities associated with the grant (ethics bowl, civil discourse ambassadors program, etc.).
  • Service: Contributing to the success of our community engagement work, as well as assisting with our speaker series and workshops.

Expected start date: August 17th, 2026

Duration: Renewable for up to 3 years  

Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Philosophy, Political Science, or related discipline; expected completion by August 2026.

Salary:  $70,000/ year
