Editor of Free Inquiry Magazine and Executive Director of the Council for Secular Humanism

The Center for Inquiry, a nonprofit organization dedicated to defending science and critical thinking in examining religion https://centerforinquiry.org/about/, is looking for a new editor for its journal Free Inquiry. The new editor will start on or about September 1, 2026, when the current editor retires; an earlier start date may be negotiated, depending on circumstances. Whoever occupies this position will be a leading voice for secular humanism in the United States and will establish the editorial direction of the magazine for six issues per year. This is a full-time job that also includes duties as the executive director of the Council for Secular Humanism. It can be done from our headquarters in Amherst, NY (near Buffalo), at CFI West offices in Los Angeles, or remotely.
