Department of Philosophy

The Department of Philosophy invites applications for a one-year, contractually limited, position to begin July 1, 2014, at the rank of Assistant Professor. Preference will be given to applicants qualified to teach the following courses: 1B03 Philosophy, Law and Society; Arts and Science 1BB3 Informal Reasoning; 2CT3 Critical Thinking; 2D03 Moral Issues; 2G03 Social and Political Philosophy; 3HH3 Metaphysics; 3N03 Political Philosophy, and one further 3 unit course. One of these courses will be offered in Spring, 2015. The starting salary for the one-year period for an assistant professor will be $68,824.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in philosophy, in hand or near completion by the starting date, previous teaching experience and demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in philosophy. The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in the research and administrative activities of the department.
