Job description

The Department of Psychology at Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a tenure-track position to begin in the Fall of 2015. Initial appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor or Instructor, depending on qualifications.  The successful candidate will be expected to cover courses in Psychology (http://www.fandm.edu/psychology) and in the Scientific and Philosophical Studies of Mind (SPM) program (http://www.fandm.edu/spm).  We are especially interested in candidates who can strengthen the SPM program’s track in cognitive science, as well as enhance our offerings in related areas including (but not limited to) ecological psychology and/or developmental psychology.  Overall teaching load is 3/2, including participation in the College’s general education curriculum.

We will consider candidates with degrees in Psychology, Philosophy and related disciplines; candidates should be prepared to contribute to the core psychology curriculum (e.g. Introduction to Psychology, Experimental Design and Statistics, or History and Philosophy of Psychology) and to supervise student honors projects with strong empirical/experimental components.

To apply, submit: a letter of application, curriculum vitae, graduate transcript, three letters of recommendation, a statement of teaching, a statement of research, up to three examples of published work, and teaching evaluation forms electronically via apply.interfolio.com/25524. (Please note that there is no charge to submit an application.) The letter of application should highlight some of the ways you could enhance the breadth of teaching and research offered in Psychology and SPM. Candidates who submit their materials by September 30, 2014 are assured of full consideration.  Inquiries may be directed to Prof. Michael Anderson ([email protected]).
