Job description

The Department of Philosophy at Chapman University invites applications for a tenure track appointment beginning fall, 2015. Rank: Assistant or Associate Professor. AOS: Philosophy of Economics or Social and Political Philosophy. AOC: Open. Course load: 3-2 on a semester system.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent research potential and a strong record of teaching effectiveness. In addition to teaching undergraduate philosophy courses in keeping with his/her expertise, the successful candidate will contribute to a new interdisciplinary minor in “Humanomics,” which focuses on issues at the intersection of economics and the humanities. The core courses for this program are small, highly-interactive, seminar-style classes that will be team-taught with faculty in Economics and English. The successful candidate will be asked to create a course titled, “The Ethics and Economics of Wealth Creation.” Since this is a new program, the candidate will have significant input into how it develops and evolves.
