Advanced Associate or Full Professor of Philosophy (EXPIRED)

Job description: With the strong backing of the Dean of Humanities and the Provost, the Rice University department of philosophy will make several tenure-track appointments, at various levels, in the next three years. We are looking for an accomplished and internationally recognized philosopher to play a leading role in this process, eventually assuming the office of department chair. Building on one area of recent strength, we seek a specialist in the philosophy of mind with a broad vision of the field – from its neurological to its phenomenological aspects – and of its place within the wider philosophical and scientific landscape. Standard course load is two courses per semester, and candidates should understand that there is an expectation of continuing excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service to the department, school, university, and profession.
