Assistant Professor, History of Philosophy (EXPIRED)

The Department of Philosophy (http://www.lsa.umich.edu/philosophy/) at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, invites applications for a university year (9 month) appointment Assistant Professor position, tenure track, in the history of philosophy before the 20th century.  The Department has specific needs in history of ancient philosophy, history of early modern philosophy, Kant, and 19th century philosophy.

Duties include research, 4 courses/year on a semester system, graduate supervision, and normal committee service.

Successful candidates should have earned a Ph.D. in philosophy by the time of the appointment.  In addition, they must have a strong commitment to teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate student level, and must demonstrate an ability to initiate and conduct a high quality program of original research.
