JAMES MADISON UNIVERSITY, Department of Philosophy and Religion, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin August 24, 2015. This position is contingent on approval of funding. Teaching load is 3/3, with 2 preparations. In addition to offering upper-level courses in his/her main areas of expertise, the successful candidate will be expected to teach both (i) Introduction to Philosophy and (ii) either Critical Thinking or Ethical Reasoning in the University's General Education program. Excellence in both introductory and upper-level teaching is therefore particularly desirable. Applicants should hold the Ph.D. or expect to receive it by the appointment's start date. AOS: 20th century French philosophy. AOC: open, with a preference for feminist philosophy or critical theory or hermeneutics.
