Job description |
Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) invites applications for a faculty position in research ethics at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Primary appointment will be in a relevant department or division with substantial salary support and time commitment to the Center. Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is committed to being the leader in improving child health with foci that include cutting-edge research and quality improvement. In 2013, the Research Foundation had sponsored funding of more than $171 million. Children’s ranks third among pediatric medical centers in research grants from the National Institutes of Health. The Medical Center participates in important research consortium and networks, such the eMERGE Network, and is a partner in the University of Cincinnati Clinical and Translational Science Award. The faculty member will be expected to develop a research program that contributes to a fuller understanding of ethical issues in research. Examples of topics that cohere with institutional priorities and strengths include consent for donating samples to institutional biobanks, return of secondary findings in genomic research, and human subject protection in learning healthcare organizations. The faculty member will also be expected to participate in education and in administrative service. Candidates are expected to have a terminal degree: MD, PhD, and/or JD. Candidates with a PhD in a basic science and postdoctoral training in bioethics are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have demonstrated ability to design and conduct research, and publish in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates with empirical research skills are encouraged. Candidates must have the potential for extramural funding. Experience in pediatrics is desirable. |
