Job description |
The School of Arts and Humanities at Keene State College seeks qualified applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Philosophy, starting in August 2015. Candidates must have a commitment to working in an interdisciplinary, humanities-based department, which includes philosophy and communication. For more information about the Department of Communication and Philosophy at Keene State College, visit: http://dept.keene.edu/commphil/ AOS: Candidates will have social and political philosophy as a focus in teaching and research. AOC: The successful candidate will teach logical argumentation, ethics, and a senior project course in rotation (teaching load is six 4- credit courses per academic year). In addition to teaching lower and upper-level topic courses in their areas of focus, other courses might include applied ethics, and social movements. Additional responsibilities include advising students and service to the department and the College, which may include undergraduate research and supervising internships on and off campus. As part of regular teaching responsibilities at this public liberal arts college, all faculty members are expected to teach courses that serve both their department and the Integrative Studies Program (general education). Qualifications Required: Earned doctorate in Philosophy by August 1, 2015, for appointment as Assistant Professor; evidence of teaching effectiveness that includes a commitment to undergraduate research; have an active research agenda; a commitment to working in an interdisciplinary department. Current rank minimum for an Assistant Professor is $61,720. An earned doctorate is required for the rank of Assistant Professor; A.B.D. will be considered for Instructor’s rank, and was at $54,950 minimum in fall 2014. Subject to change with anticipated Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement.
