Assistant Professor of Philosophy (EXPIRED)

The Department of Humanities at Michigan Technological University seeks to appoint a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Philosophy beginning Fall 2015. AOS/AOC: Feminism and 20th Century Continental Philosophy.  The candidate should have experience teaching some of the courses in our curriculum:  Engineering ethics, philosophy of science, philosophy of technology, existentialism and phenomenology.  Experience in an interdisciplinary environment is strongly preferred.  The Department of Humanities at Michigan Tech is a highly interdisciplinary department that offers a minor in Ethics and Philosophy, undergraduate degrees in Communication, Culture and Media, English, Liberal Arts and Scientific and Technical Communication, as well as Master’s and Ph.D. programs in Rhetoric, Theory and Culture.  The candidate must show the potential to make a significant contribution to the department’s graduate programs by being able to teach graduate-level courses and serve on graduate committees.  The typical tenure-track teaching load is 2 courses (6 hrs.) per semester.  The department’s website is: http://www.mtu.edu/humanities. 

The successful candidate will have an active research profile and evidence of teaching excellence.  PhD in Philosophy required by July 1st, 2015.
