Professor, Department Chair (EXPIRED)

The Philosophy Department at Marquette University is seeking an outstanding senior scholar for the position of department chair, beginning fall of 2015.  AOS/AOC: Open.  Applicants should have credentials appropriate for appointment at the rank of Full Professor and demonstrated administrative ability.  The successful candidate should be willing to engage with diverse philosophical schools and disciplines.  The department consists of 26 tenured or tenure-track faculty and offers graduate study at both the M.A. and Ph.D. levels.  The new chair, who will be the chief administrative officer for the Department of Philosophy, is responsible for the managing of faculty and staff and the administration of undergraduate and graduate programs.  The chair will work in collaboration with other department faculty and under the supervision of the Dean of the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences.  The chair will be expected to be active in teaching and research commensurate with administrative responsibilities.  All applications must be submitted through the electronic application system at https://employment.marquette.edu/postings/3304, where candidates should upload: (1) a letter of application, (2) a current Curriculum Vitae, and (3) names of three references the department may contact.  Inquiries should be directed to Dr. Nancy Snow, Acting Chair, at [email protected].  Marquette University, an EOE that values diversity, is a Jesuit, Catholic University with a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs.  We seek candidates who will contribute to its mission, which can be found at http://www.marquette.edu/about/mission.shtml.
