The Department of International Studies in the School of Global and International Studies, College of Arts and Sciences, Indiana University Bloomington, invites applications for an assistant or associate professor of human rights, broadly conceived to include the recognition, promotion, and protection of human rights by international institutions. The ideal candidate will also possess knowledge of the growing importance of social movements, NGOs, and the private sector in upholding human rights, and be able to leverage and expand the university’s resources across a broad range of constituencies. This appointment would begin August 1, 2015. Candidates should demonstrate broad theoretical interests, active research agendas with the promise of publication in high quality venues, and proficiency in appropriate research methods. In addition to maintaining an impressive research program, the holder of this position must possess strong teaching credentials. She or he is expected to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels on specialized topics in human rights. The successful applicant will also be part of the School of Global and International Studies plan for developing a strong research profile and active engagement in policy discussions of the day. Applicants should have or expect to receive a doctoral degree by August 2015.
