Job description |
The Department of History, Political Science, and Philosophy at Longwood University invites applications for a one year appointment as a Visiting Assistant Professor or Lecturer of Philosophy to begin August 2015. The successful applicant must be able and willing to teach 2-3 sections of introductory ethics or environmental ethics each semester, plus other courses that complement our curriculum, such as political philosophy or philosophy of war/terrorism. The ability to teach World Religions (a religion course, not philosophy of religion) would be an asset as well. Longwood University is a public, Liberal Arts University. Evidence of teaching excellence required. Teaching load is four classes per semester if the applicant is hired as a Visiting Assistant Professor, and five classes per semester if the applicant is hired as a Lecturer. PhD is required at time of appointment for Visiting Assistant Professor, and M.A. for Lecturer. College-level teaching experience is preferred.
