Job description

The Department of Philosophy & Religion at The University of Tampa invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Philosophy beginning in August 2015.

Area of Specialization (AOS): Ethics and Applied Ethics, broadly construed. Area of Concentration (AOC): Open, but with capability of teaching a wide variety of undergraduate philosophy courses. In addition to courses in the candidate's AOS, the successful candidate will be able and willing to teach courses in at least several of the following specific areas: history of philosophy (Ancient Greek and/or Modern European); bioethics; business ethics; feminist philosophy; media ethics; ethics of technology; philosophy of law; philosophy of race/Africana philosophy; political philosophy.

Teaching load is 3/3 (3 four-credit undergraduate courses each semester).

Ph.D. in Philosophy must be in hand no later than August 2015. Teaching experience preferred. The successful candidate will have a broad background in philosophy, will be committed to excellent undergraduate teaching, and will maintain an active record of scholarship through publications. Other responsibilities include developing and managing ongoing outcomes assessment procedures, coaching and mentoring Ethics Bowl and Bioethics Bowl teams, student advising, curriculum development, serving as advisor to an undergraduate philosophy club, and service to the department, college, university, and broader community.
