Job description

Position:  Lecturer.  Full-time, benefits eligible, renewable three-year term. Not tenure-track.  7 courses per year, over 3 quarters. AOS: Open AOC: Open

The Department of Philosophy at Santa Clara University, a private Jesuit, Catholic university, invites applications for a full-time lecturer position.  The position is for a three-year term and is renewable. Reappointment is contingent upon superior performance, persistent programmatic need, and availability of funds. The successful applicant will be able to teach a two-quarter freshman core sequence in Cultures and Ideas as well as lower division core Ethics courses. The ability to teach an intensive Critical Thinking and Writing sequence is desirable. The successful candidate may also be asked to teach upper division courses in his or her research specialty. Successful candidates will have a strong commitment to, and exemplary record of, excellence in undergraduate teaching as well as evidence of scholarly engagement. Salary and benefits competitive. Ph.D. in Philosophy prior to date of appointment.
