University of Hertfordshire School of Humanities Professor of/Reader in Philosophy 1 FTE: Working 37 hours per week Salary: UH9/AM1 - £47,328 - £62,012 pa depending on skills and experience We are seeking a well-published philosopher of international standing who shares our commitment to research-informed teaching; embraces the ‘impactful research’ agenda; and values collegiality. The area of specialisation is open, but a research interest in, and willingness to teach, ethics (broadly construed) may be an advantage. The Philosophy Group’s performance in REF 2014 puts us in a strong position, as the university is looking to invest in us as one of its strongest research units. The successful applicant will enhance the research strengths and external reputation of the Philosophy Group and contribute significantly to its performance in future research assessments. As well as providing research supervision at PhD and MA level, we offer at undergraduate level single honours, major and minor pathways in Philosophy and a minor pathway in Religious Studies. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop modules reflecting their interests and expertise. The University is required to meet UKBA visa regulations. Applicants who do not currently have the right to work in the UK will have to satisfy UKBA regulations before they can be appointed.
